Doing my morning auto news rounds and I ran into !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
Basically /drive isn't really profitable, so they're going to start charging for it. Turns out the reason we haven't been seeing much new /drive content is likely a combo of the NBCSN filming as well as this deal being worked out.
Subscription works out to $3.99/month or $39.99 a year, it goes live on Thursday with the LaFerrari video.
I personally have no issue paying for good content. I love what you guys are doing but before I plunk down my credit card, I'm just trying figure out how much content I'll be getting with the subscription.
Basically, my question is, are there plans to start rolling out videos on a regular basis. Like will I be getting to watch a new video every week, or just be paying so I can sit down an watch one or two videos a month?
Any feedback on the topic would he great, and also is there a way to tag Spinelli or Farah in this post?

It sucks that their current business model isn't working out to their liking, but introducing a paywall to view their content just means that people are going to instantly pirate their videos.

For almost $4 a month they are dangerously close to Netflix territory. Netflix = unlimited Top Gear. So if they're going to put themselves on a pedestal, they better make sure they're on point.
Right now they're content/editing/work is amazing because of it's free. If I was paying $40 a year for it... it'd be alright.
I dunno... I'm torn.

Yeah I know people will pirate it right away, and that's a shame cause unlike movies and music which I don't feel bad about cause it's multimillion dollar industries, the choice between paying or not getting vids is petty easy for me

I'm not either, only cause I don't know how many videos I'm getting. Like one a week I would be happy with but if I'm paying 4 dollars for one video a month screw that

Yeah I pay like 8 a month for netflix, though top gear is kinda meh to me. They can keep their silly challenges, I like in depth tech specs and a real feel for what it would be like driving the car, and that's what I love about /drive
So for me that would be worth the 4 bucks a month if I'm getting a few good vids out of it, especially cause I'd rather watch that then just about any other car review.
Plus I'm a Harris fan, so there's that

Why can't they monetize with sponsors? Like car cleaning products and other products they feel strongly about. Other youtube channels do it so why can't they?

"This paid channel is unavailable in your country." [Germany]
This shit is ruining my day. I'd gladly pay for the channel if I feel the content is worth it.
I'd appreciate the chance to check it out at least...

I'd recommend the The Hola! App for google chrome. It's free and it's a great way to get around geoblocking
I'm American and I used it in London to watch hboGO and the American netflix.
